Silica is an example of a potential serious chemical hazard.  Exposure to silica can occur during stone cutting, construction, road work, or quarry work. The health effects of airborne silica exposure include fibrosis of the lung and lung cancer. Workplace Safety and Health Division may issue an Improvement Order to your facility for a chemical and biological substance exposure assessment. .
